Hello and welcome. I’m Melinda, a Kinesiologist with over 30 years of experience supporting people to reconnect with balance, clarity, and wellbeing.
Using gentle muscle monitoring, kinesiology works with your body’s innate intelligence to uncover blockages to wellness and prioritise what’s needed for healing — whether that be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.
My approach is compassionate, holistic, and deeply client-centred, creating a safe space where you can feel supported as you move toward lasting change and a greater sense of wellbeing within yourself.
I was born in England and as a young child at home sick one day, I said to my mum; "Wouldn't it be amazing if we could touch on different parts of our body and it would tell us what we needed to heal ourselves?” Over a decade later at age 19, living in the vibrant fast paced colony of Hong Kong, I first witnessed “muscle response testing” . I had full body goosebumps - this was the answer to my wonderings as a child. I felt that I’d had an insight into my divine purpose.
In the early 1990s I was working in a supplement marketing company, and had the great fortune to study ‘Kalos’ - a powerful kinesiology system based on Touch For Health. This was the answer to my quest. I had found the most powerful and beneficial healing I had ever experienced. I became a ‘Health Facilitator’ and my journey with this work truly began.
For more than 30 years, I’ve been immersed in the study and practice of holistic healing. My work draws on modalities including Reiki and established kinesiology techniques such as Kalos, Touch for Health, Emotional Freedom Technique ( EFT Tapping) , Australian Bush Flower Essences, PKP (Professional Kinesiology Practice), and PSYCH-K. This rich tapestry of experience allows me to support each client, including children of all ages, in a deeply personalised and holistic way.
I know that true wellbeing encompasses so much more than just physical and mental health. It is about your spirit being truly comfortable in your body.
As a Practitioner, I bring a compassionate, client-centred approach to every session. I listen deeply and combine professional expertise with intuitive insight to help you feel supported, balanced, and empowered.
My clinic, Wellbeing With Kinesiology, is a safe and nurturing space where meaningful, lasting change can unfold. Whether you are seeking relief from stress, pain, depression, phobias or simply needing support through life challenges, I can facilitate your journey to finding a greater sense of balance and clarity.
In simple terms, kinesiology uses muscle monitoring - which is gently pushing on certain muscles to gain biofeedback. This allows us to build a holistic picture around your goals and identify what your body needs to prioritise for healing and balance.
Kinesiology looks at the whole person — physical, emotional, mental and spiritual — rather than just individual symptoms. We are a connected and interactive holistic system.
While the word “kinesiology” originally refers to the scientific study of human movement, in the context of complementary healthcare, it is used to describe an energy-based system that supports balance and healthy functioning in the body.
Stress, poor food choices, negative emotional patterns or programming from early childhood, all build our subconscious beliefs about ourselves and the world. Our life experiences can influence how the nervous system functions. This shows up as tension, anxiety, feelings of being stuck or just being out of balance in life.
Kinesiology does not replace medical care. Instead, it works from an educational, energy-based perspective, supporting the body’s own capacity to heal, rebalance, and move toward greater wellbeing.
In order to feel comfortable with the process of kinesiology, I thought it would be helpful to provide a brief history of this powerful and scientifically backed technique.
The science of muscle testing was first developed and published in 1932 by a Boston Orthopaedic surgeon R.W. Lovett, (Lovett also invented the first brace for treating scoliosis). By using muscle testing he was able to analyse disabilities resulting from polio and nerve damage, and he found that muscles that tested weak, often had a common spinal nerve.
These tests introduced the first five levels of muscle testing, which remain the basic formulas used in many of today's physical therapies.
Muscle testing officially became a new science in the field of Academic Kinesiology in 1949, where Henry and Florence Kendall (who also worked with patients with paralytic poliomyelitis) published their book ‘Muscle Testing and Function’. This book looked at the analysis of the exact motion of muscles and the way they move joints.
The real game changer came in the early 1960s when chiropractor, Dr George Goodheart, took interest in the Kendalls’ work and through his research he synthesised everything into the new science called Applied Kinesiology.
This remains the centrepiece of kinesiology: he recognised the complex inter relationship of imbalances linking muscles to the lymphatic, vascular, and energy systems of the thousand year old Chinese meridian system. By using Muscle Response Testing he could access this revered information and use it as a diagnostic tool in his chiropractic work.
Over the following decades many different kinesiology systems were developed, including Chiropractor Dr John Thie, who developed ‘Touch For Health’ in the early 1970s. He intended to bring this system out to the layperson and indeed it has become a worldwide modality with millions of people in over 50 countries practising it.
In the early 1980s Dr Bruce Dewe MD from New Zealand developed the Professional Kinesiology Practice (PKP) with his wife Joan. PKP is essentially a database, held in the fingertips of the practitioner. It is the interface between the physical body and the subconscious of the client.
There have been so many incredible pioneers who have expanded kinesiology into many different processes and modalities, and these have been taught to students of kinesiology around the world.
1.5 hours - sessions are a combination of kinesiology, PSYCH-K and other modalities, depending on client needs and preference.
